Waccamaw EOC Community Services Programs offers an array of services and resources, as well as case management, to empower and lead our customers down the pathway towards economic self-sufficiency. Below are some of the services we offer.
Direct Assistance (DA) is designed to provide financial assistance to help households avert, prevent, deter and avoid a crisis.
Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP) is designed to assist households who may find themselves in danger of having their services disconnected due to unexpected emergencies (circumstances). All emergencies must be documented.
Employment Training Program is designed to assist customers with a short-term course and/or take a certification examination to obtain or maintain employment.
GEAP provides assistance with an eviction notice, home fires, and relocation. All services require a 30 day emergency.
Health and Wellness Program will assist with dental, eye exams, eyeglasses or non-narcotic medications.
Housing Support Program assists with rent and security deposits. The households must show proof of sustainability to receive assistance.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded program that provides assistance to low-income households, particularly those who pay a high proportion of their household income for home energy needs. It directly assists households that do not exceed 150% of the federal poverty level. Services available under LIHEAP are:
YETS is an eight (8) week program for high school youths between the ages of 16 to 18 years old. The youths will obtain employability training and character building skills. They will also receive a weekly stipend and summer internship with a local agency/company.
The CSBG Program is managed on the federal level by The Office of Community Services, a part of The Department of Health and Human Services. At the state level, the program is managed by SC Office of Economic Opportunity.
